Sound Garden spatial soundscores are played through a temporary sound installation of up to 70 small, remote, battery-powered speakers, each playing a different part of the whole piece of music, composed by award-winning composer / designer JG Everest. Each speaker is housed in various handmade vessels, including wooden birdhouses, felt sculptures, and ceramic and metal urns. The sound environment and soundscore is further enhanced with pitched windchimes and live, roving musical accompaniment by members of the Free Range Orchestra & Choir, and, of course, the ongoing “concert” of sounds already occurring in nature.

A hand-held POV demo video of the Summer Sound Garden at the Wolf House Gardens, July 2018. All audio is original, unedited onsite sounds from the smartphone camera. Live poetry by Jeffrey Skemp.
